My favorite has to be his mask effect that he has stapled onto him. Each ability is linked to one of the colors of Atrovicus’s color identity. This is essentially an aggro deck, so it makes sense to give them option to keep the fire going, and 2. And since Atrovicus is 3 colors, why not give him 3 different abilities that can trigger when a Shadow creature hits. Since Shadow creatures are unblockable 99% of the time, they needed a legend that gave a sort of anthem ability when they hit. However, the real reason I designed this card has to do with its 3 modes. The +2/+2 anthem for Shadow creatures was added because Inherently Creatures with Shadow are very weak sat wise in exchange for being unblockable. And I gave him flying because he has wings so duh, and he’s a Demon, of course he can fly. I imagined a creature more powerful than the Stronghold Overseer, which is the most powerful creature with Shadow to date stat wise. Shadow creatures, with the exception of one multicolored creature, reside specifically in Esper colors, which is where the color identity for Atrovicus came from. This means that the decks main strength is also its biggest weakness. The only difference here is that the only creatures it can block are also those with Shadow. So for those not familiar, Shadow is a mechanic similar to intimidate, fear, and menace, which limits how the creature attacking with it can be blocked.
Return target creature card with Shadow in your graveyard to your hand. Target player who was dealt combat damage this turn discards a card. Whenever a creature with Shadow you control deals combat damage to a player, choose one: draw 2 cards, then discard a card. Other creatures with Shadow you control get +2/+2. Atrovicus, Elder of Darkness is 3, 1 White, 1 Blue, and 1 Black for a 6/5 Legendary Demon Shade with Flying and Shadow, meaning that it can only block and only be be blocked by creatures with Shadow.
